Reference USA, a free 44-million employer on-line database, is a big data job search dream.
It’s an almost complete directory of U.S. businesses and government entities. It is searchable by several fields, including:
- Zip code.
Reference USA will return a list of employers that match your search terms. It will also let you drill down on each employer for more detailed info and a link to the company’s website.
Reference USA Access
How do you get access to Reference USA? About 85% of public libraries nationwide subscribe to Reference USA.
Most subscribers provide remote on-line access to their patrons. Get online, or on the phone, to your local library to see if they offer Reference USA.
If not, ask your reference librarian to help you get access to Reference USA via a partner library.
It’s Easy to Learn How to Use Reference USA
Reference USA is very easy to use. You can teach yourself, or you can ask your reference librarian to walk you through logging onto Reference USA and doing a search.
Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Your reference librarian is there for you and has a great deal of job search expertise you can call on.
